About the Designer
Suparna Som, a young and passionate designer, found her calling in the world of textiles, specifically the enchanting artistry of Santiniketan weavers and artisans. Her journey began during her studies at NIFT Kolkata, where she was captivated by the raw, handcrafted beauty of Jamdani textiles, marked by their unique, uneven tones and edgy charm. Suparna's involvement with the fashion world began when she assisted renowned designers like Gaurav Jai Gupta and Bodice. Eventually, she embarked on her own fashion journey, launching her label in February. Her SS'18 line, "Phool Patta," draws inspiration from the hibiscus and jasmine flowers, deeply rooted in West Bengal's cultural spirit. Suparna Som sarees designs offer a glimpse of a simpler, slower way of life, a luxurious return to an era where simplicity reigned supreme. Her designs balance a reverence for tradition with forward-looking silhouettes, embracing minimalism with fine detailing. Her work is a tribute to the elegance of simple living, a luxury often overlooked in today's fast-paced world. Her designs resonate with those who appreciate the beauty of small, meaningful moments.
